I would not call this anti pattern - yes, in NAV, the recommendation was to never run trigger except if you want to execute specific trigger, but in BC the recommendation and best practise is the opposite - always run trigger except if there is reason not to run it. Why? Because you never know who is listening and without the RunTrigger you are forcing other developers to another anti pattern - not checking RunTrigger in OnBefore/AfterEvents.
