When tiny Specs make BIG SPECTACLE!

When tiny Specs make BIG SPECTACLE!

When John Dalton idealized the existence of atoms in 1803, many scientist just ran to discover new knowledge on “THIS THING”, or so one would think. But this has been the greatest leap man made from the Stone Age. Man was creating his own key to unlock the future. Test, trials and failures gave millions of theories falsehood or truth. But if we view J.J Thomson, Rutherford, Bohr and all the others as mere mad scientists who make our Science classes a bother with their historic plots, then we are an ungrateful generation.

So, how important has this discovery become? How has it materialized to acknowledgement as a NEED in the scientific realm? Well, consider China, one of the world’s greatest energy consumers. They are forced to diligently monitor policies on electricity demands. The very electricity that saves PV arrays, carbon capture facilities, and nuclear reactors from being mere equipment, Kahrl (2011).The very electricity that allowed these equipment to even being built. Now, if China had no electricity, wouldn’t all the luxuries we enjoy from China be non-existent; the cars, TV, computers and clothes, just to name a few. And where did man’s greatest understanding to manipulate electricity come from?

We all know that rockets got launched into space to set up satellites in order that the world could be captured in real-time on our laptop screens through the existence of the internet. And this was never before atoms were discovered.

Of course not!

In as much as how gases where being studied before atoms were theorized, a fundamental part of the characteristic of every substance was first at the subatomic level. We have to come to the understanding that the very gas chambers of these rockets were engineered based on their characteristics as this proved their strength against explosion. And by what knowledge did this came about? The many voyages into space that gave the solar system a place on our Geographic syllabus were worthwhile.

Now the chemist has a periodic table from which he operates in the microscopic and macroscopic worlds. The pharmacists can mix life-changing potions to increase survival. While the scientists are still yearning after new knowledge the engineers are bridging the gap between knowledge and application. And the teacher is enlightening the new generation. So, there is no doubt that this was the actual leap from the Stone Age.

Man and his fascination with everything, is making use of these tiny particles to give diverse characteristics and purpose to substances. Man is creating carbon copies of what nature has and is just binding and dividing to satisfy demands. Yes, it all started at the atomic level.

What do you think?

Physicists are made of atoms. A physicist is an attempt by an atom to understand itself.
