When Technology Fails: Lessons from my Most Recent Painful Experience

When Technology Fails: Lessons from my Most Recent Painful Experience

Last Friday, January 24th, 2025, was supposed to be a day of celebration for us. We had planned to go live on LinkedIn and YouTube at Executive Media Africa with the maiden episode of our program "3,600 Seconds With Industry Leaders" to observe International Day of Education 2025. However, despite our best efforts, we were unable to stream due to severe network glitches from our end. Mine in particular was even worse! The horrible internet disconnection forced me to 'warm eba' that day. ??

We were left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and apologetic. The program has been advertised extensively, and many of our connections, associates and followers were eagerly looking forward to it. I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused by our failure to go live. ??

But, as I reflected on the experience, I realised that it was a valuable learning opportunity. Yes! I learnt that even with the best planning and preparation, things can still go wrong, and that technology can be unpredictable and frustratingly unreliable at times. Nonetheless, practicing the art of calmness when faced with situations beyond your control and being surrounded by the most loving, genuine support systems remain the best therapies ever!

Most importantly, I learnt that setbacks, challenges and failures are an inevitable part of the journey to success. We can not and should not let them discourage us or hold us back. Instead, we must use them as opportunities to learn, grow, and come back stronger.

Stay strong. Be hopeful. Do not give up!

Let every stumbling block be your stepping stone.

So, we are not giving up! We have rescheduled the program for today, January 27th, 2025, at 5PM SAT or 6PM WAT. My amazing ladies, 'Maseabata Lets'asa , Victory Omovrah and I remain committed to making it happen, no matter what. And, tell you what! Our very esteemed guest, Prof. Jacob M. Nyambe will also be there live on air with us.

Oh, Sovereign Lord! I am so excited to share this update with you!!

No day or time of the year is ever too late to celebrate International Day of Education. Education is a fundamental human right, and it is essential for building a better future for ourselves and our communities. We are privileged to be a part of this celebration, and we hope you will join us. ??
