Hello Friends, It's Wednesday!
And I am here with the 2nd edition of Creative Catnap!
Thanks for joining me. We, the community of 'Catnappers' have crossed 1000 subscriptions. I am delighted, excited and 'waving my digital hands' at you.
Last week I shared with you the concept of 'Found Art.' In this edition, let's talk about--
News Of Record!
For a certain time, I was part of Star News--in its early phase, when we launched the channel. My well-read journalist friends often discussed with fervour, what should go on air and what should be left behind.
In other words, the News Of Record: The news that defines the day, as recorded by some newspaper of authority.
In the future, someone could go through the editions and find all the significant things that happened on that day.
If it's not documented here, it's not significant.
But I have a different point of view--
News Of Record mostly covers major events like wars, political events, cultural gatherings. It focuses on social movements, unrest, and protests.
Now, life is too large to be bound into some limited categories.
Especially, creative people see the world with different eyes, fresh eyes.
They see and get influenced by things often missed by people. Like the silvery sun that shone in the Mumbai sky, recently. It was mesmeric. As I watched it from my window, the noise from the road vanished--Bus horns, calls of the hawkers, pigeon-gruntings.
In that moment, there was nothing else but the sun shining on the winter sky, appearing like the full moon!
These moments don't appear on the news of record. But these are the experiences which make life interesting. Isn't it?

So, think for a while, what things have happened to you today, or in recent times, which are significant, added a new meaning to your life, made your experience of living a little richer?
Why not create a folder on your phone or the computer to document--
Your Own News Of Record!
Let's document the most important events in the day. Things significant to YOU!
While we are talking about media--
Have you heard the recently viral 'Kachcha Badam' song?
To attract buyers, a travelling peanut seller in Bengal sings this song. Someone shot his video and shared it on social media. It caught on, and now there are cover versions all over the world.
The video below alone had 91 million views!
Bhuban Badyakar, the artist, the peanut seller, is now being invited to television shows. This is the kind of story which makes life exciting. That's what keeps the hope alive.?
Creative people want more of such 'news' and less and less of those political rallies, and prolonged discussions about set agendas.
Creative people focus on hope and possibilities, not cynicism.
Let's make a difference. Document and share good ideas not captured by the commercial news media.
Do share with me, some of your stories.?And comment, like and share this newsletter with friends who deserve to be in our community of Creative Catnappers!
See you next Wednesday!
