Attending the 2024 Paris to Manama Fashion Week, courtesy of Yahya Alawadhi ’s invitation, felt like stepping into a glittering world where creativity, culture, and couture collided in a breathtakingly glamorous spectacle.? Yahya, the founder of All I Have and a Bahrain Polytechnic Marketing graduate turned student of International fashion, had taken on an unexpected yet delightful task—educating his mentor, Tijjay Mitchell , on the finer intricacies of haute couture. ?Along the way, the pair explored the sustainable fashion opportunities in Bahrain and its growing global influence.
FACT:? Bahrain, in particular, is becoming a key player in regional fashion, with local designers experiencing a boost in recognition and global reach.? The global fashion industry is witnessing a resurgence of creativity, innovation, and technological advancements. ?According to a recent Statista report, the global fashion market is expected to generate over $2.5 trillion in revenue by the end of 2024, with the Middle East contributing significantly to this growth. ?So it seems like Bahrain’s fashion scene is primed for international recognition.
A TALE OF TWO CITIES:- Paris Meets Manama
“The evening was a red carpet ‘Dress to Impress’ event, but true to form, Tijjay showed up as… himself,” Yahya joked. “Let’s just say he wasn’t trying to impress anyone.” For those familiar with Tijjay’s unpretentious style, this wasn’t a jab but an affectionate observation. The surprise of the evening, however, came when Tijjay found himself casually introduced to H.E. Mr éric Giraud-Telme , the French ambassador and his wife, Amelie GIRAUD-TELME .
Ambassador Giraud-Telme spoke passionately about "stitching" Bahrain firmly into the international fashion map. His efforts have included championing young Bahraini designers through initiatives like the ESMOD Dubai The French Fashion Institute training program, a two-year journey designed to arm Bahrain’s creative talent with the skills to dazzle on the global stage. In his words, Bahrain is “weaving its identity into the fabric of global fashion.”
FABRIC OF THE FUTURE:- Yahya Alawadhi’s Journey
When Yahya was a student, we could not have predicted his leap into the fashion world. “Who would have guessed?” reflected Amir Zaidan . ?“His resilience and dedication are nothing short of inspiring.” Philippe Vande Wiele marvelled at Yahya’s ability to merge traditional Bahraini motifs with cutting-edge design. ?“His style is bold and innovative,” he noted, while Dr. Darren M. quipped, “It’s not my cup of tea, but you can’t deny that Yahya’s creating trends, not just following them.”
Yahya’s career journey is proof of what’s possible in a high-stakes industry like fashion. Through hard work, creativity, and a touch of audacity, he’s determined to reshape the narrative—and the runway—one stitch at a time.

FROM STUDENT OF MARKETING TO MASTERING OF COUTURE:- Steep steps
As a marketing professional, Tijjay has always been sceptical of the fashion world, dismissing it as “fluff” and steering his students toward more dynamic careers taking on and turning around struggling businesses. ?Yet, standing at Paris to Manama Fashion Week, watching Yahya on stage with poise and confidence, he couldn’t help but laugh at the delightful irony.
“Watching Yahya navigate the world of fashion with such mastery—and now teaching me some of his insights—was one of the most poetic full-circle moments I’ve experienced,” Tijjay admitted. “It’s proof that passion and perseverance can transform anyone, even a marketing student, into a true master of their craft.”
Making that transition has been easier for Yahya because he’s vested in the industry and has built a series of mini attainments and wins that he’s immensely proud of—milestones he believes will shape his understanding and strategic approach navigating the intricate world of couture techniques and fashion.?
His most recent accomplishment is earning a highly sought-after spot among 30 designers, selected from over 80 applicants, for an esteemed fashion training program. This powerhouse collaboration between Tamkeen , Esmod Dubai, and +973 Artisanat Gallery offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to hone technical expertise, creative innovation, and a deep respect for cultural heritage.
The program and various workshops like the one delivered by jean-michel hostal emphasises essential skills such as precision, craftsmanship, and trend analysis, alongside professional values like resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence.
LOOKING AHEAD:– The Next Break-out
For the young budding designers, the future looks bright and highly competitive. ?May your stitches be strong, your seams straight, and your creativity limitless. ?The world is your runway—stride down it with confidence.
Bahrain Polytechnic is proving to be more than just a training ground for highly competent marketers.? It’s a hub for innovators, trailblazers, and trendsetters ready to make waves in industries.? Whether on the runway or in the boardroom, the Marketing Degrees Program is educating and equipping its graduates to lead, disrupt, and redefine the future.
As for the rest of us not educated about the world of fashion, let’s try to keep up and pay attention to Bahrain’s creative scene, the only question left is: who will be the next breakout star?
