When Something Disrupts the Plan...

When Something Disrupts the Plan...

“Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face.”? - Mike Tyson?

In other words, you can do all the planning that you want, but sometimes the unexpected hits and you’ve got to be ready when it happens…

Since we’re tackling 2023 and that January always feels like welcoming a wind of change and growth, I felt like sharing a story with you.

It’s one of my sports stories where there are many lessons learned.

Here it goes.

All of this happened in the fall of 1997.

At the time, I was a full-time university student in physical therapy.

And one of my final exams was at the same time as the Handball World Championships.

I knew that in order to make the most of this incredible opportunity, I’d have to miss my final exam.

Then my professor laid down the whammy: “Either you come to the exam or you fail your class.”

Failing that class meant losing a full year, because that class was a prerequisite to access the next semester.

That teacher was stubborn; not flexible at all.

But I refused to give up on my dream. I wound up reaching out to the University Sports rep and negotiating with the school.

I wouldn’t accept “give up on your dream” or “lose a year of academic progress” as my only two options.?

We wound up coming to a compromise: I took my exams in a hotel room, at the same time as my classmates were taking theirs.

For those 10 days, life was HARD for me.

I was studying between the games.

I would go to sleep late at night, to make sure I was fully prepared.

And since I was traveling internationally, I also had to take my exam at night (1pm exam time in Montreal meant 7pm exam time for me in Germany).

I also had to do my best at the games, especially since I was one of the youngest players on the team.

Long story short - I ended up passing the exam AND making Team Canada!

Why am I telling you all this?

Right now I’m sure your inbox is as full as mine as of “new year, new you!” rah rah stuff for 2023.?

But the sad truth is, less than 10% of people KEEP their resolutions…??

What they’re missing isn’t dedication, or willpower, or even desire.?

They don’t have a framework for success!

Most people go at it with a goal of “lose weight” or “get up early” and don’t know how to come up with an actual game plan for how to achieve those goals.?

That’s why I wanted to tell you that I’ve taken everything I learned about performance and discipline as an Elite Athlete and I use that to help former athletes, executives and high achieving professionals leverage their career into a successful coaching or consulting business.

I know what it takes to set a big, ambitious goal AND actually achieve it, even in the face of obstacles that could stop you in your tracks.?

I am a catalyst in helping people dig deep and find the motivation and strength to perform at peak levels and hit incredible milestones, like…

  • A former chef reinventing herself as a mindset fitness coach, helping parents deal with their children’s mental health issues.
  • A former architect quitting his job after a year and doubling his salary by coaching clients on performance internationally.
  • A former executive owning his consulting firm and hitting 5 figure months.
  • A former healthcare manager quitting her job after 6 months and impacting the world as a coach and consultant.

I am opening up my calendar to speak to a select few people who are serious about their coaching or consulting business growth.

This call would be really good if you already have a business up and running or are seriously ready to start yours.

Is that you? (If you're still reading this... Yep. It. Is. YOU.)

Message me and I’ll let you know when we can talk.
