When should you seek angel investment for your startup?

A couple of weeks ago I gave a presentation at Massey University's business incubator. The topic, creating 'the winning pitch'. Although I had worked with many startups on creating their pitch decks, I decided to talk to a few investors and asked them about the do and do not of pitching and will share my collection of info over the coming weeks.
What I wanted to share first is the timeline of when to seek investment. Too many times we see entrepreneurs with no more than an idea, seeking investment. The job of a startup team is to find a repeatable and sustainable business model. The successful founders that managed to secure funding did a pretty good job at de-risking the investment.
So, if you are wondering what to do and when, focus on validating your idea, gather a team around you, build a concept if possible and then seek investment.
