When to Send Work to Outside Counsel (and When to Bring it Back In-House) - a New "Ten Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel" Blog

Hello everyone! I have posted a new "Ten Things You Need to Know as In-House Counsel" blog. This edition discusses the question of when should in-house counsel send work to outside counsel and when should they bring it back in-house. Click here to read it. If you are attending the Chicago ACC Chapter webinar on managing outside counsel spend on August 3, I will be discussing this topic and more during my presentation. You can register for the event here.

Great insights for tackling a complex issue. Special kudos for highlighting the morale issue. A lot of energy and money is being spent today debating how to recruit and retain great diverse talent. Easy win-win answer: Trust in-house counsel to do the challenging work, celebrate the value being added, and get out their way! If you can make it work for your company and team, nothing is more satisfying to an in-house attorney than solving problems for the company and helping to achieve goals. Great work, Sterling!
