When is Selling Product not Selling?

Empowering Leader. I help established, frustrated female entrepreneurs in network marketing to move their business forward from uncertainty to heart-led, people-centred, growth-focussed active partnership
When I was first approached by a network marketer and they explained that they had this great service that they wanted me to "promote" for them in return for commission paid on my success, I was terrified. It sounded like selling. "I'm not a seller" I told them. I did not believe that I could do it. They tried to convince me that it wasn't selling, it was sharing the great news with others who would believe in to my enthusiasm and would take my services and maybe even become part of my team.
I wondered to myself if this could possibly be true. I took a step into the network marketing world. I followed the processes. I did the development reading. My conscious mind still told me that it was selling and I wasn't a seller.
And I believed myself.
I have now been a network marketer for almost 8 years. For the last 7 years I have stumbled along, highly trained and developed, understanding the hooks and techniques, skilled in social media but still not believing IN myself.
2020 has been a year of revelations for many of us for many reasons. My revelation was joining a new network market, on a whim and seeing success within 24hrs of signing up - in fact, achieving sales within 5 hours of setting up my webpage.
How did this happen I hear you ask?
Well, quite simply, I joined Avon - it is a household name, trusted brand, value products and great reputation. Everyone that I have spoken to, has heard of Avon, has used it, has a family member who was a sales rep, or remembers the catchphrase "Ding Dong! Avon Calling"
Since I joined in the last week of October 2020, my team and I (YES, I have recruited team members, unheard of previously) have sold over £1000 of products. I have achieved 3 incentives and I have made my plans to increase this during 2021. And we've done it all online - none of us have gone out dropping brochures. None of us have broken any contact rules. All of us have serviced our customers from a distance, but we have still serviced our customers and they are coming back time and again.
So when is Selling Product not Selling? When it's a product that customers want to have because they know it, they like it and they trust it. All I do is put up a compelling image, the price and a brief description, with a link to my online store and the orders arrive, from all over the UK.
When is Selling Product not Selling? When you have a product that is great quality, that you use every day and that you are comfortable to recommend to others. If it resonates with them, they'll buy it and if it doesn't, they won't - but it won't stop you using it and showing it to others and knowing that your product is not for them is great information which you can use to find something else that might appeal.
When is Selling Product not Selling? When it become second nature to build relationships with people, to learn what they like and what they don't like and to use that knowledge to recommend suitable products naturally in a conversation.
I'm sure you received a Christmas present that you are over the moon with and that you've told all your family and friends about. your enthusiasm for this product may be infectious and your nearest and dearest may rush out to get their own. You don't get any commission for this recommendation and sale, yet you have no problem recommending it. You are comfortable telling others about your gift. But you are selling that product to others.
This was the lesson I had to learn in 2020. This is Getting Out Of My Own Way.
So I am a proud Network Marketer. My primary business is Avon. We have a range of cosmetics, fashion, fragrance and seasonal items that will suit every pocket. We deliver direct to your door and postage is free when you spend over £20, or if you live near me.
In 2021 I am looking to show my business to anyone over the age of 18 who is looking for supplemental income.
In 2021 I am looking to showcase the product line regularly and I have a Facebook Group set up specifically for that purpose
In 2021 I am going to start doing make-up tutorials - and those who know me, know what a huge deal this is, as I don't normally wear make-up - but I'm going to show you how easy it is change a habit
In 2021, if you want to challenge yourself and come on this journey with me - message me and remember - When is Selling Product not Selling? When you love what you do, believe in yourself and allow others to join your journey and your world!
Happy New Year!!

4 年This post brought back some great memories for me Samantha Marshall. Firstly, my mum was an Avon lady back in the 80s and I remember going with her to those incentive events and, at that time not really taking it all in. secondly, thank you for sharing your thoughts about when is Selling Product not Selling? When you have a product that is great quality, that you use every day and that you are comfortable to recommend to others. I believe that if we have 'something' that others need and can use then we are doing them a service by offering it to them. Not all will want it but those who do will thank you for it! good luck with 2021...
What a great nmessage i like to think im not selling im serving my clients.
