When is the right time to migrate to cloud?

As more and more companies are turning to cloud computing for their IT needs, the question of #WHEN to migrate to the cloud has become increasingly relevant. While cloud adoption offers many benefits, such as increased flexibility, scalability, improved operational efficiency, and cost savings, making the switch can be a significant undertaking that requires careful planning and consideration.

So, when is the right time to #migrate to the cloud?

The truth of the matter is, there's no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as each company's situation is unique. However, some key factors to consider include:

1. Current IT infrastructure: If your current IT infrastructure is outdated, expensive to maintain, or no longer meets your needs, it may be time to consider a move to the cloud. Examples I often see are legacy systems where no additional investment will be made to upgrade hardware and is often grossly out of support.

2. Business needs: If your business is growing rapidly or has suffers from seasonal spikes, you may need to scale up your IT resources up and down quickly. Cloud computing allows you to do so without having to invest in expensive hardware and software for those peak moments while only using 30-50% of your available compute during non-peak times.

3. Economic Benefit: Cloud computing can save you money on hardware, software, and maintenance costs. If your company is looking to cut costs, moving to the cloud can be an effective way to do so. In fact, I'm happy to do the math with you. Even further, if your workloads currently reside on another cloud provider, the results are shocking! Let's see what IDC had to say:

4. #Security and #compliance: If your company is subject to strict security or compliance requirements, moving to the cloud can help you ensure that your data is secure and compliant with regulations. OCI's Security Zones, Off-box virtualization, Zero-trust, Encrypt by default, and Gov Cloud regions are but a few examples of how we can help you address your security needs.

5. Staffing and expertise: Cloud computing requires specialized skills, expertise, and quite frankly the resources to do it. If your company lacks the necessary staffing or expertise, it may be time to take advantage of a managed cloud service, but let's take that a step further! What if I told you I have services available at no cost to you as an extension of your workforce to assist with your migration? We will help you design, configure, and code automation into your new cloud build. But don't take my word for it...
