When is the right time to have a hard conversation??

I love to ask this question to leaders and watch them look me right in the eye and say "now would be fine".

I then ask them to allow me to interview people at every level of their organization and ask the same question.....

Many times they look down at their feet and don't respond quickly.

It is at this point that I smile and say, well it would seem you have some work to do on how you are empowering your team.

Which gets down to the great Michael Gervais who helps the best in the world get better.

We were inspired by many of these athletes at the Olympics just a few short weeks ago.

What are those athlete's doing today?

PRACTICING

What are they practicing?

That is where the coach comes in.

Companies have to perform or perish everyday in the marketplace and what was remarkable yesterday isn't tomorrow.

The remarkability meter moves and so must your company.

Do you have a company that runs towards the problem or waits for the boss to solve it?

Coming back from the All-In Summit this week and reflecting on how many of the speakers were adept at leaning into the problems they face.

The former CEO of UBER Travis Kalanick had a great line about pushing forward through difficult times.

"Have you ever seen a great marathoner at mile 19?"

They are dancing with their own best self....

What would happen if you had an entire company of people who had the tools to dance with their own best self when it came to hard conversations and problem solving?

It comes down to what your practice and what you tolerate?
