When Researching a Book is Hard
Progress Report on my next book, Junkyard Dogs
Most of the time I enjoy the 'research phase' of writing a book and can get lost in it as I tool around the Internet and occasionally the library. Not so this morning. As I'm working on my next novel with the working title of Junkyard Dogs (or maybe Junkyard Dogs & Mouser Cats), I needed to do some research on where dogs used as 'living burglar alarms' might come from which led me to look into dog fighting rings.
I had to take a break after viewing the images and reading about the heinous abuse so many dogs receive from us humans. It didn't help that many of the abused dogs look like my own pup, Argos, a combination yellow lab and pitbull who is one of the most loving and loyal pets I've ever known.

I’m intentionally not using any of the photos that so turned my stomach, but chose one that to me exemplified how we should be treating our pets.

4 å¹´Yes so completely heart wrenching! I want to stop them ALL!! Pitties often are some of the sweetest most loyal dogs and because of people like this they are also so scared of. I would like the world to know how they need a break and to be loved!
