When?ASQA?as the regulator expects so much of RTOs, how come their processes and staff are lacking? This week I have experienced the following:
- Received a notice of initial audit for an RTO/CRICOS application that includes VET qualifications only yet refers to the applicant being audited against the ELICOS Standards.
- In that same notice as above, been asked to confirm why a “superseded core unit” was being delivered as part of ICT40120 and not the current unit (go figure…??!!)
- Been advised by an auditor during an audit that our mapping documents were an issue and why have we mapped to the performance criteria and not just the assessment requirements? And then that knowledge evidence must be mapped to the performance criteria….
- Received a notice of non-compliance and a rejection of an application based on a policy and procedure not being exactly as the auditor wanted it and a style guide in an assessment not being quite right. Several assessment tools were passed as part of the same audit.
- In the same notice as above, became aware of a “new process” in place that would allow the applicant to be re-assessed, but that contradicted what the auditor said at the audit i.e., that they would recommend approval and that the minor items as above would at the worse be the subject of a written direction. Seems written directions don’t exist anymore. When did that happen, why weren’t we told?
- And who are these new Market Entry Assessors? Is this the new latest buzzword for auditors?
It looks like, once again, time and energies will be focused on trying to resolve these issues that should not have been present in the first place, rather than spending it where it should really matter.?

1 年Looks like a return to opinion based auditing. Who is responsible for checking audit reports before they leave ASQA to ensure the report is accurate and based on the standards and not an individual auditor’s personal opinion??
