When to Pitstop!

When to Pitstop!

There is a constant buzz in my ears today as fast cars whizz round in circles not far from my home (Townsville 500 Super cars). I’ve never been much of a petrolhead or car person despite working with Porsche, Audi, Lexus and Toyota for many years doing high end experiences in far off lands.

- I once rented several private jets to fly people to Munich to experience the new Audi R8.

- I saw a private concert with Natalie Imbruglia in a castle in Portugal after a new car launch.

- I poured wine in the Grand Palais in Paris while Take That performed for the highest performing Dealers across the UK.

- I had a Lexus 250H parked on my drive for several weeks one summer after driving around the UK visiting stately homes and organising cucumber sandwiches for potential customers.

Last year when my “Mum SUV” was stolen and then trashed on the 6 O’clock news, I bought myself a nicer car, but like I say I’m not attached to any kind of wheels because they are only ever temporary… for a season let’s say.

However, I’m inspired today to talk about 2 things in the hope that it might inspire you.

1. What happens when your wheels fall off?

2. How to get your motor running again!

OK, so what happens when your wheels fall off!

? Self-doubt creeps in or comes blasting in.

? Your health goes downhill fast.

? Your emotional odometer is erratic.

? You don’t feel supported.

? You start procrastinating, or not acting on simple things.

It’s not uncommon for the wheels to fall off from time to time, especially if you’ve not had a pitstop or taken the time out to focus on what you really want. Every self-help guru I know admits to needing an engine overhaul regularly. SO, I advocate for embracing an overhaul and recognising that your wheels maybe falling off and this leads me to number two.

How to get your motor running again.

? Recognise that this is just an important part of RnR. It seems inconvenient but it’s essential embrace this Pitstop.

? Invest in yourself. Physically, spiritually, socially, emotionally. Of course, you can probably not afford to go into debt right now but don’t be afraid to tap into some reserves or emergency funds for a good service.

? Help someone. While feeling unsupported you can use your skills to support someone else.

? Reflect on your life experiences and remember the positive things that have made you who you are. Self-doubt will only fester if you forget about how amazing you are.

? Reconnect with people who have been your supporters in the past. It’s possible you have been so busy you didn’t have time to maintain connections with those that have been on your team for a long time.

? Reimagine your life as you would like it to be. Who is in it, how much money are you making, where are you spending your time and how do your choices play into your overall life plan and goals. It's OK to change lanes.

? Do the things you haven’t had time to do. Declutter, organise, pay bills, exercise, be social, etc.

? Detox your body, meditate, walk, eat well, journal, grieve and only spend time with people who like you.

Finally, a motorsport event, is short, noisy and full of toxic fumes….

So are most events in your life. They will pass on quickly so it’s important to Pitstop, and then move on, not spending too much time wondering if you should have continued on worn tyres and an oily rag.

Tones And I performed at the track last night and I listened from my bed...

The noise is getting louder, and I can’t hear myself type so I will exit this race, and love you for reading my post and hoping you find your Pit Crew this weekend.
