#mytake on When #Passion meets #Creativity! What's #yourtake?

In my recent #travels I visited the Veerabhadra #temple on the Andhra-Karnataka border. It is a #Hindu temple located in the Lepakshi, in the state of #AndhraPradesh, #India. The temple is dedicated to the Virabhadra, a fierce form of the god #Shiva.

Built in the 16th century, the #architectural features of the temple are in the Vijayanagara style with profusion of #carvings and #paintings at almost every exposed surface of the temple. It is one of the centrally protected monuments of #national importance and is considered one of the most spectacular Vijayanagara temples. The fresco #paintings are particularly detailed in very bright dresses and colours with scenes of #Rama and #Krishna from the epic stories of the #Ramayana, the #Mahabharata and the #Puranas and they are well preserved.

…..However this was not that intrigued me! What caught my eye was the huge monolith sculpture of a seven headed hooded serpent shading the Shivalingam on the back side of the temple.

This sculpture was not originally part of the plan of the temple. The workers were not paid to make this sculpture and they carved this sculpture during their breaks as they resided in the chambers on the right-hand side of the sculpture!

This got me thinking about the fact when Passion meets Creativity and my #learnings are as follows:
