When a PARIJAAT made me pause..
Last week, as I was on my walk, in my neighborhood, I was crossing the PARIJAAT (Nyctanthes Arbor-Tristis) tree, when I noticed the gardener sweeping the place. He was gathering all the PARJAAT flowers that were lying face down into a place from where they would be pushed into a dustbin, shortly.
I wanted to take them home - for they have a mesmerising fragrance, and its a family favourite. I asked the gardener to pause; I bent down and I gathered about 25 of them.
While picking them up, I had a thought cross my mind...When I leave the world, will there be people who will pause, kneel down, to pick me from the ground and take me home, for my `fragrance' ?
Most of my waking life, I walk around - selling myself, selling my qualities, selling my achievements, abilities ! In other words, saying `Like me; please like me !'
I would like to be like the PARIJAAT, which even in passing, silently, leaves a fragrance, that I can't help but like.

9 年Your post took me through the neighborhood lanes that you mentioned and I could actually smell that PARIJAAT.... It is this feeling that I would want people around me to have even after I leave this world....Thanks for making me realize that in the "running" that we do, we leave our trail and fragrance everywhere ...

9 年Just my fair thoughts, I feel that those aspects are something which defines the boundary of being idealistic ,which by the way would mean empathetic feelings only but difficult to practice in real life.Simple very well written !!! Just felt to read and take it Thanks
