It seems like just yesterday I was turning on my maternity leave out of office.?
And now - my baby is double digits?-?Hugo is now 10 months old????
I took 12 weeks of (self-funded) maternity leave when he was born.?And for the most part, it was great. No doubt in large part?because I'm self employed and can choose my schedule.
But sadly,?I’ve been hearing from folks a?LOT?lately with?horrendous?parental leave expenses.?
This week alone, from people in the PepTalkHer Community I’ve heard stories like this:
Shocking right??
But also.... are we?really?surprised?
These are not isolated or unusual experiences.
We just rarely hear these stories publicly because folks on #paidfamilyleave are often those who can least afford to risk speaking out.

1 年I wish this got greater reach. Too often women are penalised for having children. And yet, I had a manager say to me I achieved more in the 5 hours I worked on returning back to the office, than most people did in their 8 hours.

1 年Might the persistence of remote and hybrid work trends pose opportunities to overhaul leave policies, Meggie? As far as my team members behind remote-native INNOVO are concerned, one simply announces leave and takes it -- no questions asked, especially if family is involved (to be fair, we are overwhelmingly a self-selected bunch who are entrepreneurial yet prefer working within a much larger team environment).
