When opportunity knocks
My brother Pete and me

When opportunity knocks

In 2018 I became a full-time Caregiver to my terminally ill brother, Pete.

Over a 12 month period, both Vicki and I experienced first hand the amazing impact of the nurses and other health professionals that cared for him and our family through an otherwise terrible journey. Surprising, it was one of the most worthwhile and rewarding things Vicki and I have ever been a part of, to be able to spend time with someone when time is finite, which highlighted how simple acts of kindness can help make the most of the time left.

After Pete passed, Vicki and I decided our future lay in this most rewarding field. So after lots of research, we have partnered with the award-winning In-Home care provider, Nurse Next Door, who share our values, with the sole purpose of Making Lives Better.

Whilst it might appear less than wise to start a new venture amid the doom and gloom we all see today, we are filled with such optimism for the future at the prospect of making a real difference to our community through Nurse Next Door.

Australia’s aged community will grow by 75% to nearly 5 million over the next 20 years and demand for disability services are set to grow by 260% over the next two years alone. As we experienced with Pete people are increasingly wanting to lead the best life they can in their own homes, on their own terms, through the assistance of in-home care services. We're excited to build a business that meets these needs, that focuses on possibility and celebrates life regardless of age or ability. We are also thrilled at the positive impact our new venture will have on our local community as we grow our team, creating 50 new health care jobs over the next 12 months.

It's amazing how life sometimes has a knack of throwing us a curveball when least expected and presents us with new opportunities.
