When No One Calls Back

When No One Calls Back

It's one of the days when candidates are not picking up.

They are not calling back...

Prospects are not responding...

Clients are not inviting candidates for interviews...

Yet here I am, smiling as I meet colleagues in a kitchen.

Because in the not-so-good days,

when things don't progress as they should,

the sun still shines behind the clouds. ??

"If you're going through hell, keep going" —Winston Churchill

As I follow this advice and keep going, I have flashbacks of messages from hundreds of very kind people who sent me messages such as this one:

These moments of gratitude and recognition fuel my motivation, turning the challenging days into stepping stones toward greater achievements.

It's these unexpected messages of gratitude that remind me of the real impact of my work.

Beyond the daily grind ?? of calls, emails, and negotiations, there lies a deeper purpose: to inspire, guide, and help others find their new and better career path.

It's easy to get caught up in the metrics, the KPIs, and the constant chase for the next big placement.

Yet, it's the human element: The stories of success and transformation, that truly define our success in the talent acquisition field. Each candidate placed represents a life changed and a dream pursued.

So, on days when the phone remains silent, and the inbox empty, I reflect on these stories.

I remind myself that the work we do in talent acquisition is not just about filling positions. It's about building relationships, inspiring growth, and making a tangible difference in people's lives.

To all my fellow recruiters out there, remember: THE WORK YOU DO MATTERS.

You are not just filling roles; you are shaping futures and creating opportunities.

On the days when everything seems to stand still, take a moment to reflect on the lives you've touched and the careers you've shaped. Let these moments of impact be your guide, your motivation, and your reason to keep moving forward, even when the path ahead seems daunting.

And so, as I finish my coffee and head back to my desk, I carry with me the lessons of perseverance and grit. Because every "no" brings us one step closer to a "yes."

Every rejection teaches us a new lesson.

Let's embrace the journey, with all its ups and downs, because it is in these moments that we truly grow ? and thrive. ??

Interesting, why do you think candidates don't pick up the calls or emails? What are the top ten reasons that you know?

Michal Juhas True words of wisdom, Sir!! I would like to add, when the clouds are out, and no one seems to respond, what that means is a seed has been planted ?? Sometimes, a connect may respond later down the line, a message from a candidate looking for work, a prospective client revisiting your proposed services, or maybe a connect asking for a favor. Some things are designed to happen in due time; the main lesson is to remain diligent, consistent and persistent. The gold rush of western America in the 1840s did not stop with people just giving up; they kept digging until they found that gold!! The best is yet to come. 2024 is still chock full of possibilities
