When meetings kill missions

When meetings kill missions

WHEN MEETINGS KILL MISSIONS

Do you really need to sit in another meeting? #toughlove

Deep down you know the following is true:

-most meetings waste time

-most meetings aren’t inspiring or motivating

-most meetings aren’t bringing relationship depth, which is the real reason we should be connecting with our customers

-most meetings aren’t geared towards solving a real problem or implementing solutions

-most meetings are encompassed by a talking head that isn’t saying a whole lot, thus lack of structure, intention, alignment or purpose mean most people are attending out of obligation asking themselves what is the point?

-most meetings are wasting valuable time for an employee or sales person when they could be implementing focused actions and creative explorations that bring about greater outcomes

Ok now that we’ve established the uncomfortable truth of most meetings, how can we shift this? Here are my suggestions:

  • Ask yourself, how will attending this meeting bring value and connection, do I really need to attend this? Be mindful that time is your most precious resource and most people waste it.?
  • If you are heading up the meeting, ask yourself, is this really necessary? Can this same information be communicated in a better, faster and/or more efficient way ……. or at all?
  • If you decide the meeting is necessary, are you issuing a call to action that is engaging, meaningful, or useful? Is there a new skill to be learned? Is there real open dialogue that is welcome and needed to increase the depth of understanding that drives goals intrinsically??Is there an opportunity to cross-channel motivational input from real stories and experiences? Does your sales team or staff feel supported, seen, heard or are they scrolling through IG counting the minutes for the meeting to end because it isn’t really helping anyone?
  • Are you focusing on the relationship or the reward because without people there is no reward, thus an even exchange of problem solving and learning through relationship building is key.
  • If the meeting is with a customer, be mindful of their time and show up with helping them as your only focus...how can you help them solve a problem, brainstom co-creative ideas, be a resource or collaborate in a way that helps them with their life, project and goals?

Doing things for the sake of doing them or the same old same old is not going to bring desired outcomes.

Without a vision people get stuck in the same job, same goals, same dreams, but never really going anywhere because they are stuck………and this goes both ways.

I’m just saying what everyone is already thinking, so go out there and be mindful of your time, your value and your resources. Stop going to meetings that aren’t worth those things and stop holding meetings that drain them.?

If you’re on a mission and have a purpose, don’t kill it, but kindle it, and you can do this by spending your time more intentionally and purposefully. Stay focused on the mission at heart and make choices that solely support it…and let everything else go. You’ll find yourself experiencing more energy, more focus and determination to move mountains, maximize your time and step into greater potential!
