When are the Matric Results being Released?
For the 2019 Matric Class, The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will announce the national and provincial results on Tuesday 7 January 2020.
From Wednesday, 8 January, you can get your results via SMS, the USSD short code system on your phone, from your School and in the newspapers.
1. Via SMS
Send your ID number and exam number via SMS to 35658. Both numbers must have 13 digits to be accepted and there is a once-off cost of R3 to register. Once registration is completed, the results will be delivered by SMS when they are released.
2. Go to your High School
On 8 January - the school should have your results from around 12, midday.
3. Use the USSD (short code) service
Dial *120*35658#. After answering multiple questions, enter your ID number. You’ll receive your results per subject after you’ve completed the process. You’ll have the option to opt in or out to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act. USSD rates apply.
4. Buy a Newspaper
On 9 January, the names of successful candidates will be published in newspapers. You’ll need to know your exam number, which will be used instead of your name.
5. Get your results online on the DOE website
Log on to the Department of Basic Education website, and follow the instructions given in order to see your results.
You will need your Examination Number, Home Language
and Details such as full name, date of birth, etc.
