On Episode #287 of the Who Ya Know - Job Networking Show we speak with WYK Alumni turned career coach, Kristi Meenan.

Kristi was a struggling job seeker in 2016. She had applied for over 100 job roles, interviewed for some but didn't land a single offer.

Recruiters thought she didn't know what she wanted because she put all her talents in one resume. Nothing seemed to work, so Kristi stopped her job search and decided to figure out what she was doing wrong.

After consulting with recruiters and resume writers, she reflected on what she did and didn't do. Armed with all the knowledge, Kristi decided to start her own business and teach job seekers her learnings.

According to Kristi, if you don't like your job, you should block out time to continue your job search. And if there is something that will propel you to your next successful job, it is worth the investment. Focus on your professional development.

She also talks about the stigma associated with unemployment and says that it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Let your network know that you're looking for a job.

We also take a deeper diver with Foster Williams, also known as "The Job Father" who has over 31+ years of Global Talent Expertise.

According to Foster, people were out of jobs for 3 months and thought that something was wrong with them, but with time, the 3 months progressed to 6 months, 10 months, or up to 2 years for some people. But God has got a plan for everyone.

While discussing what companies were doing wrong, Foster says it is essential not to follow technology completely, keep the human aspect, and 'rehumanize.'?

Kristi adds during an interview, you need to ask questions. Asking questions about the culture, work ethics, style, etc. will help you determine if the company is a good fit. It is a two way street. Watch the Ep. 287 and subscribe on YouTube below.

Dear heavenly Father,

There are lot of people discouraged in their job search, the things that they are dealing with, in the day to day can be a grind and it could be hard to keep a sight of the big picture.

And the picture is that you have a plan for us and that you have, according to your will, good things in store for us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
