When Life Goes Haywire...
Almost a year ago, I met a couple who were well settled and working in Dubai for the last 10 years with a handsome monthly income. They are the happiest parents of a 6 year old.
Like any other family who earn a good income, even this couple was absolutely confident with their income and had no intention to think of planning for future. They were expecting to get promoted and planning to move to Canada within 4 to 5 years’ time.
It's obvious when you have enough income and some plans about future, you feel confident about everything in life until such time that things start to go out of hands.
Few days ago, I received a call from the couple, we met on a zoom call and he said “ We chose to discontinue my son’s schooling for a year or 2 depending on the situation right now. Both our income is been reduced to 70%. We are shifting to a smaller space with lesser rent. Everything can be managed but I want my son to complete his graduation without any money hassles. What can you do for that?” We discussed and arrived at a suitable solution as per the situation.
We all have and still are witnessing the consequences of Covid19. How it affected all of us in different ways leading to different situations. This should be a biggest reminder to leave the past behind and start planning for future so that, we can avoid failing our children.
A couple who didn’t plan when they had a great earnings, decided to plan in a time when their income is not even sufficient for monthly expenses.
