When Leaving a Company Feels Personal

When Leaving a Company Feels Personal

As tomorrow is my last day at BMW, I can’t express how much of a dream it has been to have worked here. The people, the cars, and the adventure it was for me and my family.

After driving several BMW’s and MINI’s including a Rolls-Royce and a few BMW Motorcycles, it’s easy to forget that this is a job we get paid for.

During the 80’s as a teenager, there was that hypnotic draw BMW’s had over my circle of friends. The coolest thing about the Yuppies were the BMW’s they drove.

I remember when I first got my license, I drove my mom’s station wagon to Open Road BMW gawking over the M3 in the showroom. Somehow the client advisor knew what I was doing and showed some compassion by talking to me and giving me a few brochures.

Since then, I’ve tried to provide those great childhood memories for my daughters, but unfortunately, they will never know the dream of aspiring to ride in a highly precision German monster machine if they’ve always had it as the norm.

I’ve had to improvise by creating other experiences. Phrases like “Drift, Daddy!”, “eBOOST!”, “Drive Crazy! Mommy is not here.” are possible because BMW knows the difference between a good experience and fluid releasing greatness!

I’m grateful for having had the chance to immerse my family since my girls are now old enough to remember things. They will be able to look back with great fondness and the belief to never settle for anything less than the Ultimate!

Thank you BMW and to all of you who make it happen everyday!
