When was the Last Time you were Scared and had so much Fun?

When was the Last Time you were Scared and had so much Fun?

When I was young life was about the pursuit of fun.

I close my eyes, say a prayer and jump forward, never back.

Then I grew up and found that I can break a bone or a heart.

Before I leap, I look to my left, and then the right and my left again.

Until sometimes I don't leap at all because

there is no net to catch, no one signalling it's safe.

When did life stop being fun and start being scary?

When did stalling life become the norm?

When did it become OK to live life a little scared?

I think it is time for me to leave fear behind

and have some fun,

just like when I was young...

So a few weeks ago, Aleth and I walked the "Divine Gorge". This narrow 12 km long pathway of the La Ruta del Cares in Northern Spain, is carved in the rocks of mountains. On one flank are imposing steep mountainsides and on the other - a 100-meter drop into the waters of the Rio Cares.

Halfway through our journey, we saw a fellow traveller coming from the opposite direction hugging the sides of the stone wall. She was terrified but yet she was moving forward, slowly but surely. She had two companions and their presence was reassuring. She was not giving up. We were inspired by her courage.

When we reached the end of the path, there were taxis ready to pick us up. But we decided to do it all over again and walked back to the starting point 12 km away - just for the fun of it! That day we walked 8 hours, took 50,267 steps, covered 34 km and climbed the equivalent of 197 floors.

In the midst of magnificence, it's easy to feel insignificant, grateful, close to an energy greater than self. But most of all, at that very moment, with Aleth by my side, the one consuming thought that rushed through every fibre of my being was - "Gosh, it's great to be alive."

When was the last time you were scared and had so much fun?

Simply Awesome...! When I was a child in Montana we would cross a loonng swing bridge over a deep canyon; the bridge appeared to be made of sticks and wire. The entire bridge is now submerged in huge deep (Yellowtail) lake.?
