Have you ever asked yourself 'What do I want?'
And I'm not talking about tonight's dinner options, or what Netflix series to watch.
What I'm referring to is the big question about what we want for (and from) our life!
Recently one of my coaches asked me that very question and I didn't know how to respond. And for the first time in about 5 years, I wasn't 100% sure of my answer.
It's been almost 5 years since I found myself on a 5-hour plane ride writing a 14-page whole life manifesto. Within it, I outlined everything that I wanted to achieve by the time I was 40 years old. I spent a great deal of time outlining my career ambitions, my family goals, health and fitness visions, along with a number of other lifestyle goals I wanted to achieve. A few of my goals included writing a book, launch project full-time family, travel the world, help 10000 people achieve their health goals, and speak on stages around the world...
...more than anything, I had clarity!
Once I had some WANTS identified, I began to ask WHY. Why did I want these things to come to happen in my life? As I went deeper with these questions, I gained greater clarity of purpose and direction. AND, with this found clarity, I got to work on the HOW.
The HOW is a whole lot easier when you know the WHAT and the WHY. The HOW is all about taking action - and isn't it easier to get up and go somewhere when you have an idea of where you are going?
Now, please realize over the past 5 years I've had my fair share of ups, downs and side-to-side experiences. The line to working towards my lifestyle goals was anything but straight. But that's what makes life so much fun - and it's how we truly learn, right? We live life and through our experiences, we gain wisdom about ourselves and the world.
Fast forward to last week...
When my coach asked me what I wanted, I didn't really know how to answer. It had been a while since I asked myself that question, and truly made the time to focus intentional time to exploring my answers.
And I mean really focused time.
Time without distractions like riding on a place for 5 hours alone with a pen and notebook, and 3 venti coffees in my system...
Christie and I took my coach's guidance, unplugged from everyday life, hopped on my scooter and spent 3 hours alone making my way through the Balinese mountain range to one of the northernmost villages in Bali - Lovina.
I spent the next 2 nights and 3 days alone on a beach, contemplating 'What I want'.
Again, I filled a notebook with ideas, visions, dreams, and ambitions for what I want in life over the coming year. I've been spending the last few days reading and rereading my notes, composing a new whole life manifesto.
And you know what? I feel fantastic! I have clarity again!
As a life coach, a nutrition coach, and fitness trainer, I would think that I would have had the foresight to have pushed myself to make the time for this mental reset. How many of us find ourselves knowing we ought to be doing something but shirk it off as something we'll get to later? And later doesn't seem to ever come at the right time, does it?

If we become a collector of 'tomorrows', eventually we'll wake up one day and realize all we have remaining to show are a bunch of empty, 'yesterdays'.
A good coach and mentor will shake us free of the tomorrows leaving us with a pocket full of TODAYS.
Which brings me to why I'm writing this post.
I want to not only create tremendous value in the lives of the people I personally coach and mentor, but I want to positively impact 100,000 people by the year 2020!
This is no small task.
My wife, Christie, and my two daughters, Chardonae and Brie, have a long road ahead of us... but we're on the road, we're moving forward and we're picking up speed.
To create massive momentum, we're doing something crazy.
