When It’s Time to Grow

Most entrepreneurs I’ve worked with never actually planned to grow—it just happened organically. At one point they asked the question How can this grow so fast with so much money but yet not have cash that I need?
You can actually strategically think about how you can grow. To grow you business you don’t have to be perfect, or have systems in place for everything, but it can make growth easier.
It does help if you can make it easier for the customer to buy, if you have the staff and bandwidth to expand. So how can you do that?
You have to decide to grow. For the first three years of my business, I couldn’t grow beyond my office. Then one day someone suggested I write down what I wanted in my next location and share it with others. The minute I did that, people started telling me about the locations they knew of, and the next thing I knew, I had opened several locations, and it just kept going! The reason I believe it happened is that when I strategically and intentionally wanted to grow, it became clear for others to see and follow.
Think about roads. Most of us drive on them, but few of us take the side roads. So as you continue to build your business you may want to think about if it is time to grow. You can grow in your industry, with your business, out of your business, or you can grow out of your customers, or they can grow with you. Think about all these factors.
Growing your business is like growing a child. It’s not only yours, although you had something to do with them being here, but they are somewhat independent and occasionally might not agree with what you want to do. I bring that to your attention because you can choose to grow your business but it might take a different direction than what you initially intended.

2 年When a farmer sits around and invokes the card of water shortage all the time, no trees will flourish. No plants will be planted. No grass with grow. But when funding is the cow that everybody is seeking, then the milk should at least be shared with others, just as much as the funding was shared with the companies that seek it. To all the above I add that nothing can grow if there is only funding but no implementation and no implementation if there is no funding.
