When and how are we going to die?

One of the greatest gifts in the world is giving birth to a child. As a father of four, i had the honour of having that experience together with my wife delivering four healthy little humans. As they grow up (now about age 18 and up) i often wonder how they will live and what world they will live in. Also, in my 'daytime'-job at Radboud University Medical Center, how their health will be (managed) and when and how they are going to die. (which i hope will be in a long-long time obviously).

Also how will our brain become affected by the use of internet technology and for instance computer gaming (we're only on the brink of understanding the impact of extensive games on the brain). Also what's next after that, is there something like a 'second chance' ?

All of these questions come together in a episode of BBC's Horizons of Adam Shaw, where i got the privilege to appear together with Dr. Aubrey de Grey (director of Sense research center), Dr. Kawashima (well know of the Nintendo Brain-age game) and Dr. Max More of Alcore (the company that 'freeze' people who have died to awake them somewhere in the future). I was asked how technology during life could help to extend (quality) of life, and took a two-feet-on the ground approach.

This episode Adam and Anna Holligan explore 'extend lives' with 4 interviews, trying to get a hold on the different perspectives on it. These questions will be on when and how we are going to die, and shows some angles that could influence the answer to the question. Have look at these episode at the website of the BBC

To me the most important other question would be : and who's decision will that be...

Mr. Lucien . Just read the title , I was sad more .. I am mum and two children 16 and 17 years ( boys ) . No moment I do not think what to do to be healthy and have very long life . Technology improvements in all areas , have the good and evil in their use , and therefore this study for subsequent freezing and human awakening , see it as such . I am a mum and I pray often than if they had the opportunity , years of remaining life , donate my two sons . I am for life extension methods , by improving quality of food , housing , work but not the resurrection . !!!!!

In the Christian Biblical assurance, our bodies will die and will return back to dust, but our Spirit (the breath God blew into the body to make it live) will live forever. Jesus Christ died for He was God/man and when He was resurrected, He got the Eternal Life body that all.belivers will someday be given as part of them living eternally with God. Your Spirit will either live with God forever or in the Lake of Fire with.Satan. We all have that choise, chose wisely. If you want to know more, study the Bible.

Beautiful insight. How would we use this in the world of long-term care, such as dementia? Handy to download your brain on time and your way of thinking. That gives you the opportunity to keep thinking and talking if your brain fail, for example, about care or how to die! Thanks Lucien
