When Heroes Come to Life

RKS and many of our team were affected by the shooting last week that occurred at a local venue, only to be followed by fire that forced many of us from our homes. Friends of staff did in fact perish at the hand of a mad gunman while others we know so dearly, lost their homes. RKS was saved and we were able to return to work today with the fire bypassing it and its surrounding areas, although the hills we see every day are now scorched. Our house was saved with the fire coming within a few hundred feet of us, while so many others burnt around us.

It's time again to say thank you to those who are willing to risk their very lives to protect us. "Heroes" include teachers, parents and all of us at times in our lives. Decent officers of the law, Dedicated Fire Fighters and those who serve in public service and the armed services, are the very ones that make our lives possible.

Tomorrow is another day and we continue on but, "not" as if nothing happened. "The times are a changing" and we will think about what we can do for those who serve and protect us, doing so without any expectation; doing what's in their hearts and commitment to others.

How do we design ways that thank and acknowledge them every day for their service, not just when we need them the most?
