When God Says 'No'

I opened a door that at first was okay,

But shortly after, God clearly told me to go a different way.

I liked where I was, and I thought it was fun,

so, I rationalized everything until the damage was done.

It led to frustration and distraction, and I started to cry, 

I had to break down and ask God “Why?” 

Years of messing up and stuck again in the same place,

but when I cried out to God, he reminded me of His Grace.

I knew I should have listened and it caused me great pain,

but sometimes for us to grow, God lets it rain.

When it comes to His lessons, we don’t flunk out, get left behind,

They come back over and over until we finally renew our mind. 

If you’re in this place right now, you may feel no one understands,

Swallow your pride, humble yourself, and let Him grab your hands. 

Whether it be work or home, there’s a time to sit still and let go,

We can’t succeed in life if we don’t listen when God says ‘NO.’
