WHEN GETTING IN A PICKLE IS A GOOD THING!

WHEN GETTING IN A PICKLE IS A GOOD THING!

At a time when all the old-school condiments are having their collars felt by a new order of artisanal and better-for-you alternatives, it’s perhaps not surprising to learn that the magnifying glass that until recently was very much focused on the nutritional decks of traditional red & brown sauces, mayo and salad creams has now turned its attention towards chutney.

?

There’s no doubt concludes SRSLY’s Andy Welch that ‘The old order of condiment providers are being challenged like never before, having got a little too comfortable in their slippers.?Today people are looking for more compelling and involving flavours (e.g. success of Nandos) or brands with cleaner decks, no lazy ingredients and a superior nutritious outlay.’?I like chutney with cheese roll as much as the next man but could no longer stomach sweet pickle chutneys packed with 35g of carbs (29g of sugar) and excessive kcal (159ish).’

?SRSLY that recently initiated a root & branch rebrand of its low carb breaded goods is now extending its reach into other everyday essentials that have got lost in time, including jams, sweet chilli sauce and now a keto-friendly sweet pickle chutney which contains no added sugar whilst offering only a miserly 4.2g of sugar (4.12 net carbs).

?Andy concludes, ‘Our pedigree in tasty low carb bread means that top sarnies are always front-of-mind as far as we’re concerned so whatever your dream filling combo, we’ll support you every bite of the way.’

SRSLY Sweet Pickle (available Jan 23) will be 300g (£4.99)
