When Every Second Counts (PSIN)

When I was 7 years old my family lived in a very small community called Wildwood in eastern TN. One winter morning, as my mother stoked our Buck Stove with firewood (the only source of heat in our home) the chimney caught on fire. I remember the panic and fear as my siblings and I were roused from our sleep in the wee hours to be rushed safely into the street. Scared and tired, I stood on the roadside in the dark and waited for the firemen to come with tears in my eyes. We were lucky that morning as they arrived in time and put the fire out quickly. It was a frightening experience I will never forget and provided me a lifelong appreciation for those who dedicate their lives to fighting fires and saving others.

When first responders (like the firemen that came to our rescue that morning) get the call - each second matters. Lives are at stake, homes are on the line and families’ futures hang in the balance. Firemen need as much information as possible to ensure quick and accurate responses and to help make certain they are as prepared as possible.

Wondersign (www.wondersign.com) has developed an amazing service called PSIN (Public Safety Information Network) to arm firefighters with need-to-know information to become more effective servants of public safety. I have a deep sense of pride to be a part of an organization that is bringing this to the world and know from personal experience what an impact it will have. It feels good to provide a solution that really makes a difference to those who serve the public night & day. The technology is amazing and in a position where seconds could mean lives, it can make all the difference in the world.
