We are all going through a time when we are fighting a battle with a very unpredictable enemy whom we cannot see but only fear and hope it does not knock on our door. Covid-19/ Corona has played a havoc and changed the world for ever… the most dreaded of all and something the world was not prepared for. This write up is right from my heart and hopefully will give you some hope and positivity in a time when all seems wrong and stressful!
I have been visited by our enemy twice… yes you understood that right. I am one in a million who has battled it the first time in October 2020 and it seems my bond did not end there, and it decided to visit me again last month in April 2021. My first reaction was of denial a very natural one; with the world around me and my near and dear ones more devastated than I was, thinking the worst would happen. My first battle was not an easy one and took me a month to even turn negative and for symptoms to vanish... and now again!! But this time I was prepared that under no circumstances am I going to let it overpower me!!
My intent of writing this note is to share some of my experiences which I hope you find useful. The battle with this virus is not just a physical one but a bigger battle of the mind. So, while the RT PCR affirms you are positive your mind must assert you are positive too... in your thoughts, your belief that you cannot let this virus take control of your body which only belongs to you. The point I am making is a positive mind is the first step to a healthy body.
Few things which I absolutely believe you should "not do":
· Do Not Panic!! There is a handful of people who get severe symptoms and off that fewer who need hospitalization. So please do not start imagining the worst. Think of the best!!
· Do not go by WhatsApp remedies and videos. I think everything in the name of Covid is sellable and will absolutely be watched. The worse part is… it will keep playing on your mind!!
· Do not experiment and push yourself … you need rest and all your energy to be a winner!! Look at it as a forced way of spending time with yourself and the solitude. Read a book, watch the series you have been wanting to catch up on, if you like to paint etc. Try to occupy your mind in that... or whatever your health permits you to do. Space out your work if you must need that to be addressed.
· Do not miss your medicine as prescribed by the doctor. They are the only qualified people as of now who can guide you Vs your other well-wishers.
· Do Not hoard medicines and oxygen cylinders or concentrators … in all probability you will not need it at all!
And what you "must do":
· Practice Mindfulness/ Meditation or whatever form of calming mechanism helps you. This helps moderate your breathing and controlling your BP.
· Affirmations: I strongly believe in what you manifest is what you attract in life!! So, believe in yourself and your strength.
Regret to disappoint if this post has no short cuts or “nuskhas” or a long list of Dos and Don'ts… I do hope it gives you all the much-needed good vibes, hope and faith!!!
