When Employee doesn't perform well ? Why and its solution !!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are doing well today !! Today's topic touches upon a situation that's very commonly faced by professionals when their performance goes down.

Yes, that happens to most people working in corporate companies. The reasons could be many, I would say.

You will find someone who was performing really well when he or she started working but then suddenly you see their efficiency going down !

Every organization has their own way of tracking performance in terms of productivity and efficiency, but I don't want to talk about that.

I want to highlight to you why it could happen and what needs to be done about it. If you are someone who has recently joined a corporate company or someone who has been working at junior level and senior level for quite a lot of years, this is for you too. It's important for self awareness about this topic !!?

We all need to understand we are all human after all. We all have emotions and feelings. All of us, when we start working, tend to mix our personal and professional lives as everything is very new.?

As we get experienced, we just learn to balance them better, but that doesn't mean we don't have a problem.? There can come a time when it becomes difficult and can affect you. That can make you lose your motivation at work !! So it's important to find a solution for it instead of focusing on the problems.?

At the end of the reading, you will realize why communication is imp at work !
Let's check what situations are that can make you lose your focus at work. OK, this is with my experience that I have felt at some stage in my life or have witnessed from my friends. You can add to the comments section if you feel any other reason should be added to it.?


  • We have issues at home and with our friends. That makes us overthink and makes us focus less at work. It could be health issues or family problems.?
  • It could be that we feel we aren't able to manage our time, that is personal and professional life, and we feel bad about it.?
  • Colleagues with whom we are working aren't friendly and helpful.?
  • Skill-sets that are required for work we don't have and or haven't provided adequate training for it.


  • Your trainer isn't helpful and also your manager?
  • You face challenges in communication with the teams and people around you.?
  • You give your best at work, but then your work isn't appreciated or recognized.
  • You don't have a mentor in your life to guide you on your career.?


  • You lack the technical skills required for the job.?
  • There is too much workload, and you aren't able to give time to yourself, friends and family.?
  • You are stressed about your career when you see people around you doing really well.?
  • There is something called burnout where we are constantly working without taking any break from it.?
  • You believe you are not the right fit for the job or task you are doing in your team based on your skill-set.?
  • Your role at work isn't correctly defined, and you aren't able to quantify it.?
  • Your work is micromanaged on a daily basis or the targets given for a task are unrealistic.?

So you see there are so many things that can impact your performance at work that can make you lose your motivation and focus at work !!?

  • Talk to the individual first to understand the problem. You need to understand if the problem is personal or professional, as you would need to know that before solving it.?
  • Find out if the problem is due to health concerns in the family or their own, if the problem is personal provided if they want to share it. ?
  • Ask them if they are able to manage their time from work with family and friends. If not, then ask them why and suggest to them how they can do it better.?
  • Find out about the team members they are working with and if they are helpful to him or her?
  • Find out if they have the necessary skills and resources to do their task. If not, arrange that?
  • Ask if their trainer/ senior / mentor is helpful and guides them
  • Find out what the challenges are faced at work ?or with communication with people formally or informally.?


  • Ask them if they believe their work isn't appreciated and find out if that's the case.?
  • Ask them about their career goals and aspirations and whether they are in line with their actions ??
  • Ask them about their workload and see if they have excess compared to the team?
  • Ask if they feel burnout due to not being off from work and give them leave from work to relax
  • Set goals for them that can be quantified and achieved?
  • Let him or her know what is expected from them as part of their role and job so they aren't stressed and try to achieve them
  • You can use the above points when you have a discussion with the individual.?

When it comes to training plan, do the below?

  • Devise a training plan for them on a weekly and monthly basis?
  • Have a regular one and one with them?
  • Have some team-building activities?
  • Recognize, appreciate and reward their work. Check with the HR about it?
  • Create a healthy environment where regular feedback is given and taken for growth of the individual?
  • Give necessary training and skills through sessions or e-Learning courses for the individual sessions in their work?
  • Explain to them their role and responsibilities so that they know what is expected from them as part of the work?
  • Be a good listener to the problems that they may have, be it personal and professional, and try to help to solve them with your experience.?
  • ?Provide mentorship and coaching and track their performance?
  • Create networking opportunities for the team to interact with other teams?
  • Having regular feedback sessions to understand how the plan is working and if the individual is satisfied with the progress, and it is reflected in his or her work?

Use the above points as part of the training plan. Hope it helps
