When in Doubt...

It's normal to have doubts - and that's the problem. Doubt can be a healthy thing, like - I doubt that old rickety chair can hold my weight... But it can also be a massive hindrance to accomplishing or even attempting our biggest dreams and ambitions.

Anytime we get used to a thought pattern, mindset, or belief, it becomes our default mode of operating and becomes 'true.' That's the problem with how regularly we have thoughts of doubt and believe that all of them are keeping us safe. Hal Green, Ph.D., explains:

There is a good and a bad kind of doubt. Good doubt motivates us to test things out; bad doubt stops us from doing that. Shakespeare said of the latter: “Our doubts are traitors, / And make us lose the good we oft might win, / By fearing to attempt.”

For clarity - it is specifically doubting ourselves, which is the challenging version of doubt

On the contrary, healthy doubt can actually stem from high self-esteem, confidence, and willingness to doubt the status quo. To doubt traditional and mainstream ideals requires a strong self-conviction: To doubt something is to be “uncertain of belief or opinion.” To “deliberately suspend judgment” and seek more information.

This leads me to the lesson in Price Pritchett, Ph.D. 's Quantum Leap Strategy:

Doubt develops in the abscence of proof. No one can hand you proof that your dreams will come true, but consider this, you also lack proof that you can't make your dreams come true.
Most people have decided to doubt the wrong things, such as their potential, the possibility of breakthrough opportunities, and their chances for making a quantum leap. For now - if you must doubt something - doubt your limits

This is how the mindworx, it creates doubt which can be in the form of healthy skepticism, but when directed at ourselves, it can make us doubt the wrong things. Doubt is inevitable, so use it to your advantage and doubt that there is anything that can hold you back from living the life you want to live!

"The world is conspiring in your favor" is a mantra I come back to from time to time to overcome doubt. On a long enough timeline (provide you've existed this long and are reading this) it's hard to doubt! ??

Too often we pass on the hard that was the better hard. Love it Bucci. The better hard often feels more risky and uncomfortable...but is often the right hard. Choose the better hard every...single..time.
