When Does Responsibility To Change Begin?

Last Thursday I met with a local professional who had more than his fair share of challenges. I say more than his fair share because that’s how he defined what was going on. I’ve said for years that every human has 83 problems. The moment any human solves one problem another one not on the list moves up.

The crux of his issue came down to installed programming he refused to overwrite. Before the pandemic he hired every salesperson he had for his team, he paid them well and everyone was happy. Due to the competition, he has lost his entire sales staff and any organization without sales won’t last long and his was no exception. He needed to do something immediately. ?He made the decision to start selling. His thought was how hard could it be? When he told me that I told him that sales is a very easy, low paying profession and a very difficult high paying profession. Pick one!

As a child he was taught/programmed to never talk to strangers. He is looking for a solution on how to sell his product without the requirement to talk to strangers. He learned this from his parents. He loved his parents and respected what his parents taught him. His entire business is based on the money he inherited. At this point in time, he is completely responsible for overwriting that faulty programming. He has a great deal of work to do but if he will put in the work, it can be done. I already warned him that learning this will be some of the most difficult work he has ever done. What were you programmed to do or not do that remains today and no longer works? ????
