When Do You Re-engage?
I think we all asked that question: 2020 was one fastball after another to the gut. Would it be poor form to publish an article on a product feature in the midst of a pandemic? What about when a protest or riot grabs the headlines? Pick anyone reading this and they will have a 2020 story - death, disease, unemployment; cancelled weddings, funerals, proms, graduations; no school, no sports, too much politics. How do you not come off as a sociopath with an article on disaster recovery in the midst of, well, disasters?
To be honest - hard to fault anyone's approach right now: reserved or passionate; venting or rationalizing. Barring violence (not O.K. and weird that feels like it needs to be said) I've seen something encouraging. Lately, I have seen a lot of empathy. Now, empathy does not necessarily mean agreement and that's good. One shouldn't be a prerequisite for the other and at least in my little corner of the world, I see more people willing to extend it. So, it's with that that I thought maybe it was time to get back in the game.
August 1st marks the beginning of the fiscal year here at Cohesity. Historically, always a great time to put things in the rearview mirror professionally. A great time to focus on new goals and what I can control to meet and exceed those goals; start to put the baggage of 2020 behind me; put humor back into our discussions; do a little celebrating along the way; get back to enjoying the sacrament of present moment. For me, it's not whistling past the catastrophe. It's simply moving forward with a great, positive attitude (I can definitely control that!)
No better way to take a look at something I would now call a trend: Cohesity becoming a leader in the industry! You might be able to write-off one as a fluke; two as a novelty; but three is definitely a trend.
