When to Decline Job Offers

"Trey" has 2 offers for summer internships. Both start in June 2022. Trey's has accepted both offers (Company A and Company B).
Trey will decline Company B around April or so (which is the notification deadline).
Here's why Trey ISN'T declining Company B now:
1. I explained to Trey that job offers can and are rescinded for various reasons. I've had plenty of clients and students who've experienced that. Company lost a contract. Main manager quit or was fired. New CEO who wants to go "in a different direction", etc.
2. The employer doesn't care that you already quit your previous job, or declined a different job, or sold your house/moved your family for the job-that-was-rescinded. They don't care that you may now have no income coming in. Business decision and all that....??
3. There's less upside for Trey to decline now instead of waiting until closer to the deadline. Yes, I know, some will say that's mean and wrong, blah, blah, blah. See #1 and #2 above.
Life isn't fair. You owe you to do what's best for you. You owe them nothing. They owe you nothing. You owe you to do what's best for you.??
