When it comes to health data, is fear preventing progress?

Since it’s Halloween, let’s talk about scary stuff. According to a recent study, 97% of the 50 petabytes of data generated by HCPs per year go unused.

From tailoring therapies and enabling cross-team collaboration to boosting existing methods of treatment, data analytics is accelerating the pace of disruption in the healthcare sector at an unprecedented pace – so why are we not fully harnessing the power of existing health data?

Issues of data protection and horror stories of breaches of ethics have cast a shadow over the potential analytics has to offer. When the reality is, continuing to keep health data as siloed as it currently is poses far greater threats. We are leaving valuable insights that can help us tackle disease progressions locked away.

Sure, it may seem far-fetched - but a comparison to recent natural disasters and their subsequent responses might help explain the threats of a lack of communication and collaboration of vital information. Had emergency services been?better equipped to connect with each other - or had local authorities been better informed of the risk and likelihood of extreme weather events - the impact could have been dramatically reduced, with countless lives saved as a result.

Thankfully, we’re experiencing a global shift away from linear perceptions of treatment and analysis in the healthcare sector. So, now it is essential that we do not let fear stop us from delivering innovative solutions to better address personal healthcare.

In the spirit of "trick or treat" – Temedica is spearheading a "treat" in this direction.

Exisitng data is crucial in better understanding care realities and disease patterns. So, we have developed elaborate legal, technical and ethical frameworks that allow us to safely and efficiently aggregate vast quantities of data from diverse sources to support the entire healthcare system gain a 360° patient understanding.
