Having been running my own business for about 20 months now, I have had a few ups and downs – which is to be expected with a new venture. One of the biggest challenges I occasionally encounter is keeping upbeat and motivated around the work - which anyone in sales or new business will know requires constant enthusiasm and energy. Like a running race or a battle, the momentum you need to keep things going is only generated by constant and continuous effort. To win and keep winning is only possible by continuously being involved in the process of selling. Energetic outreach produces the results you need. There’s no better way than staying at the coalface to insure you find the gold you are looking for. Sounds obvious, but you’d be amazed the amount of times that last call or email of the day has yielded a much-needed pitch or brief. The Mantra required is, 'keep on keeping on', as only then is there any real chance of success. Practice and evidence-based results will fuel you in times of despondency.
