When ChatGPT Meets Cupid: How ChatGPT Interactions Mirror Our Search for Love and why kids are natural prompt experts

There is SOOOOO MUCH talk about AI Overlords turning us into batteries and Prompt engineering as the new job career and of course the skills to have, skills that will be taken from us...so on so forth. So, I thought I turn it real world and try to make it as easy as possible.

First things first: What human skill is most needed? Feel free to vote :-)

It is not the AI that is taking your job, but the person using it....or so they say! Truth is, some will be taken.

So lets get to the real world stuff:

If you've ever tried dating or had a conversation with Hayden and Rafa, you'll know they share one thing in common: an endless stream of questions. It turns out this shared characteristic has a lot to teach us about prompting, especially when it comes to interacting with AI chatbots like ChatGPT.

In today's world, we're constantly seeking connection, whether it's through dating or technology. And just like dating, our interactions with AI chatbots can be greatly enhanced if we approach them with the right questions. Kinda like the garbage in, garbage out thing.

Let's explore the amusing ways that prompting and dating are similar and why kids are natural prompting prodigies. Plus, we'll uncover three simple steps to improve your AI chatbot experience.

1. Getting to Know You

Dating and AI chatbots both involve a "getting to know you" phase. In dating, we ask questions about interests, hobbies, and goals to understand a potential partner. With AI chatbots like ChatGPT, the same principle applies. To get the most accurate and relevant responses, it's essential to provide a clear and concise prompt...and above all follow up questions (see point 2 :-))

2. Why, Why, Why?

Have you ever noticed that children have a seemingly endless supply of "why" questions? This relentless curiosity is actually a great skill when it comes to prompting. By asking the right questions, kids dig deeper and keep the conversation going. Similarly, engaging an AI chatbot with thought-provoking questions can lead to more personalized and meaningful responses.

The other great benefit is: The line of questioning makes "A" prompt "You" prompt and therefore the outcome totally unique to you (remember the "Person with AI....vs AI")....just with a bit more oomph. Plus of course, no eye rolling, crying or surrender after the 50th why.

3. The Art of Conversation

Just like dating, having a conversation with an AI chatbot can be awkward or free flowing. And this one is easy to master as there is no ulterior motive here - you won't get rejected, judged, laughed at, but instead this might be the first time you can truly "date yourself" by being specific, staying on topic, and providing context that you believe is relevant. So just let lose ... + you can always delete it after :-)

Now, let's discuss three simple steps to get from a generic prompt to a more personalized interaction with ChatGPT.

Step 1: Be Specific

The more specific your prompt, the better the response. Instead of asking, "What's the best restaurant?", try asking, "What's the best Italian restaurant in Freiburg?"

Step 2: Provide Context

Context is key when communicating with an AI chatbot. For instance, if you're looking for a restaurant for a romantic date, mention that in your prompt: "What's the best Italian restaurant in Freiburg for a romantic date?"

Step 3: Follow Up with Relevant Questions

Keep the conversation going by asking relevant follow-up questions. For example, "What dishes are the restaurant known for?" or "What's the dress code?"

By treating your interactions with AI chatbots like a conversation and applying these three steps, you'll be well on your way to receiving more personalized and meaningful responses.

So, the next time you're on a date or chatting with Rafa or Hayden - or any other child really, remember that there's a lot to learn from these experiences. It turns out that prompting is more than just a skill – it's an art that requires practice, curiosity, and a willingness to dive deeper into the conversation.

Just like dating, the best connections are made when we ask the right questions.
