When Cause Marketing can make a real difference
It’s not often, arguably the first time I will use LinkedIn as a channel to promote a very specific work related initiative, but for this cause, I am going to make an exception and I hope that most of my followers will take the effort to read through this post and share it with your fellow social media followers.
For the last 15 month or so I have had the pleasure of working on quite an innovative new “cause marketing” partnership between Ricoh and Alzheimer’s Research UK. An amazing charity that funds research into the fight against Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Alzheimer’s is arguably the world’s greatest medical challenge. One in three persons born today in the UK is going to be affected by Alzheimer’s and to this date, there is no cure nor treatment yet.
Programmes like these aren’t built in a day. It’s been a one and a half year journey to launch our Printed Memories programme in partnership with Alzheimer’s Research. And I’ll be honest: it wasn’t easy. We’ve come across many challenges but today marks the “go live” of the “Printed Memories” portal: a new digital postcard tool that allows us all to create and send a physical postcard to our friends and loved ones for £1. All proceeds of this card will go directly to Alzheimer’s Research and is powered end-to-end by Ricoh technology.
All you have to do is go to www.printed-memories.com, upload a photo or memory, write a personal message and Ricoh will turn this into a physical postcard and send this to any address in Europe. And all that for £1 only. It’s a simple as that. It’s cheaper than using other postcard platforms like Moonpig.com but more importantly, all monies will go directly to this truly amazing charity.
While I appreciate that at Ricoh we won’t be able to find a cure to defeat dementia, it’s our small contribution to help those who one day, maybe can make that happen.
So how can you help and play a small part?
I encourage you all to go to www.printed-memories.com, bookmark & share the URL. Go and create your own postcard for a friend, family member or relative. Father’s day is just ahead and with the summer vacation season in front of us, why not use Printed Memories this year to send your postcard from your holiday destination!
So go on, send a postcard and together we can all play a small part in the fight against dementia.
