When a case study helps... How much can 'supply' really influence 'demand'?

Yesterday I attended HiETA Technologies’ event “Embracing Additive Manufacturing for Production” and the speakers were excellent, talking through all the aspects of how 3D printing and additive manufacturing can and will change the face of traditional manufacturing.

During the talks, we heard case studies about Snuggs’ personal fit earphones, Nike with customised training shoes and the Robot Bike Company, all in the consumer goods market. However, the hosts from HiETA gave industry examples too, where the supply of 3D printing and additive manufacturing will transform engineering and production lines. These were clear cases where the supply of this technology will influence demand – affecting all stages of design, processes, and distribution, inspiring fresh creativity in the manufacturing markets.

When businesses truly understand the needs of their customer, and can prove how the product or service will solve those, then it seems that supply can drive demand - but only with effective marketing.

As demonstrated in the talks, I believe sharing video or online or written case studies are the best way to demonstrate the benefits and stand out from the crowd as experts.

What do you think?

Think you are absolutely right Debra, by showing your potential customers that you truly understand their needs - and have solutions to fit, you are much more likely to gain work over your competitors.
