AI those days is one of the big buzzwords that everybody is keeping a close eye on in whatever business, and waiting for how it would impact their business.
The fact is that most people have very high expectations of what AI will do, thanks to movies as The Terminator and many others.
It's not that AI won't reach that level of advancement but it's that by the time it would reach that level you would be out of business!
You hear things as:
Are robots going to replace humans? Will they kick me out of my job?
Man vs the Machine!
People are standing those days in their fences, with their riffles just ready to shoot as soon as the war starts. It's just the same situation as countries who are afraid of another country fighting them while in fact they're being slowly and silently killed from the inside without noticing.
That's what's happening today, is while people are having their eyes on the radar others are slowly using AI in different areas of business to improve their performance, customer experience and reduce cost.
Example of Udacity
An example for that is Udacity. It's an online learning platform, and they have a chatting system with their users where their agents guide people visiting the website on what's the best courses for them,...
What they found out was that there were some agents who were performing way better than others in terms of making sales.
They then started analysing those conversations that led to higher sales and fed it into a machine learning program.
However they realised that there were some interactions that needed the interference of a human being.
So instead of making bots just talk to clients, they kept their agents working while having the system guide them on the best possible reply to respond to client for each interaction so they could simply click to reply with this reply.
When Employees used the suggestions given to them by the system, it generated 50% higher sales for those employees...
This is one of the areas where companies are using AI on a simple basis to improve performance and achieve better results.
The opportunities for integrating AI in whatever business are only limited to our imagination, and it would make companies who aren't thinking of innovative ways to use AI in their business alot less competitive.
I'm currently on a mission to help businesses innovate, if you'd like me to discuss with you ways of innovation in your business just drop me a message say "Hi" :)
