Wheel Efficiency at BMW
A thought to think… are there more doors or wheels in the world?
Personally, I’m in camp wheels, which means that in my mind, making sure your wheel design is individualized to do the most for you has a big and far reaching impact. BMW has demonstrated that from here on out, they'll be capitalizing on a more efficient wheel design to set them apart from the competition.
BMW just recently announced that the aerodynamics of the wheels for its new EV models have been designed with such care and foresight that these updates from their traditional wheel design alone will reduce energy consumption by approximately 2%. These wheels, made with an aluminum base wheel and customized design inserts, have allowed for a 5% reduction of drag, and 15% lighter product than previous wheels produced by BMW.? While 2% may seem menial, this bump in efficiency will allow for increased range - a significant selling point in a time where many view EVs as a luxury purchase and range anxiety is a roadblock to many new buyers. Furthermore, this wheel design will be fully customizable by the client, thereby allowing BMW to further separate itself from the rest of the pack.

2 年Personally, I think it depends on what you define a wheel, a door as, but my gut instinct says wheels without a doubt. Wild how big of an impact thoughtful wheel design can make!
