Hi there, Creativepreneurs,

I trust that you’re well. Welcome to the best month of the year because your favorite creativepreneur could only be born in September! This month signifies the birthing of new things, and I have a few updates for you.

So often, we encounter content that speaks to the freedom, earning potential and strategic methods various individuals have used to build their brand. However, not so much about the downside or challenges. What are these challenges?

The Truth: If you don’t have someone to mentor you, then you are only doing the best you can with the resources and knowledge you have at the time the challenge arises. And like with any other territory, challenges will come and put you in a sink or swim position. Realistically speaking, you won’t be prepared for everything and some things you just have to use as learning experiences as you move on to the next phase of your business.

I saw a post where someone mentioned the sense of peace they had in their 9-5 job. It’s true—you expect a certain amount of compensation at a particular time of the month. Creativepreneurship can be quite the opposite. It’s a marinated blend of ups and downs. This month you might make a lot, next month it trickles. Perhaps your clients are encountering challenges, the contract has ended, the client has changed their mind, and a myriad of other reasons. Sometimes you accept a deal below your value because, let’s be real, you have obligations to meet, and some people have to transition back to corporate and do it part-time.

Yes, to make it in this field, it is most certainly not for the weak. But one thing that kept popping up in my mind last week was: Is this your purpose? Even though we may plan and have the systems we think we need, it’s okay to let go of control. When challenges come, embrace them as they are not only building you but also building the business as you seek to improve in whichever area.

Additional Challenges:

Isolation: Working alone can sometimes feel isolating without the camaraderie of a traditional workplace.

Self-motivation: Staying motivated without a structured environment can be tough.

Balancing Roles: Juggling multiple roles from creator to marketer to accountant can be overwhelming.

So we've looked at some challenges but are there rewards?

Thought for Process: Embrace the journey with all its highs and lows. Each challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Remember, it’s okay to seek help and let go of control when needed. Your resilience and adaptability will pave the way for your success.
