A close friend of mine suggested creating a post on LinkedIn on the use of WhatsApp on the web. I told him, nobody would be interested and most know this already. I might not be adding much value. However, he insisted. I am creating this post on his request.
WhatsApp is a great tool for communication on the go. However, if you know how to connect and use on your computer, it would for sure help you a lot. With the following two steps, you would be able to use WhatsApp from your computer
Step 1: Download and install WhatsApp
You could download WhatsApp for your computer from the official website of WhatsApp. WhatsApp for computer currently is available for download for Windows 8 and higher and Mac OS X 10.9 and higher. Do note that for using this on your computer, WhatsApp must be installed on your phone! This is a good option if you want to use WhatsApp on a personal computer. For office or public computer, WhatsApp Web is the best bet. WhatsApp could also be used on your personal computer if you do not prefer to install anything on your computer!
Step 2: WhatsApp Web
To access WhatsApp on your favorite browser, open https://web.whatsapp.com/. You would get a screen 1. Check “Keep me signed in” if you are accessing this link on a personal computer and want to keep using WhatsApp on the browser.
At this stage, open WhatsApp on your mobile and click on the Menu (three dots next to the search in most Android phones) option (screen 2), Look for “WhatsApp on web” and click it, the QR code scanner would be activated (Screen 3). Just point the scanner to your computer and get your favorite WhatsApp on your computer. Once you are done, you could log off (screen 4), if you are on public computer!
