WhatsApp Status now has 175 million daily users after only launching in mid-February

facebook owned WhatsApp has approx 1.2 billion users at present. Whats app launched it's snapchat clone WhatsApp Status similar to SnapChat stories and is already pulling in around 15 percent of WhatsApp users.

This is quite interesting as the status comes up on a separate tab instead of lowering not he home screen like in instagram stories. WhatsApp Status lets users post photos and videos in a slideshow that their contacts can see, but that disappears in 24 hours. It replaced the old text-only “Status” product that functioned more like “away” messages.

On a separate note WhatsApp suffered a global outage earlier and have released a statement that they are aware of the issue and working to fix it.
