What's your word of the year?

A few years ago, I took up the habit of choosing a word of the year. I did this instead of setting a resolution. Choosing a word felt more positive. (I'm less likely to break a word like I am a resolution!) I like setting myself up for success, so I've stuck with it. This year was no different, however, what's happened since has been new and unique to 2024.
This year, I chose the word 'perspective'. As a coach, I appreciate the power of perspective. I particularly value the practice of changing perspectives as a way of navigating challenging situations and making decisions. Throughout 2024, I vow to keep 'perspective' top of mind and utilize its genius when I feel stuck. This was all expected and planned. Then reality hit.
While I chose a word for 2024, it appears that 2024 has also chosen a word for me: yucky.
That's right. My unofficial, unchosen word for 2024 is 'yucky.' For some reason, the word 'yucky' has come out of my mouth more often than any other adjective so far.
Bad weather? It's yucky out.
Misbehaved children? What yucky behavior!
Wet dogs? Yucky.
Feeling unwell? I just feel yucky.
"Mom, look at this!" Ew! Yucky! (Usually slime-related.)
You get the point. Apparently, for me, 'yucky' is here to stay. Thank goodness I can leverage a change in perspective to help me get through.
What about you? What are your words for 2024?
Self-reflection:
What do you hope for this year?
Why is this important to you?
How will you sustain this hope?

1 年?? Peace!
Great concept and the practice to implement it Maura. As a visual learner and therefore "liverer"(my made up word...lol), keeping the image of the focal point present helps me "stay on the beam". My positive word for 2024 is consistency. As an adult with the gift of ADHD, the distracting "butterflies" dilute my best intentions. DINO, Do it Now is my favorite acronym, in conjunction with OHIO, Only Handle It Once!. Thank you, as an expert coach you are, for reinforcing this powerful practice. Jer
insight!
