What's your word?
"Melting Fire" - Painting by Smojo

What's your word?

When you review your presentations, meetings, workshops etc what are your regular words?

  • What do they mean to you?
  • Are they habitual or intentional?
  • Do they represent you well?
  • Are they expressing what you intended?

If you know alternative words for the one you use, what are your options that would bring a different colour, texture, depth or lightness to what you are saying?

Language is also a part of #emotionalagility. Take the opportunity to increase your emotional vocabulary.

After reviewing my last few months of workshops, presentations and my regular broadcasts with my #KTLOLearn cohorts, one of my commonly used words is 'Interesting' meaning that my curiosity or interest has been aroused; you and/or the subject is holding or caught my attention. And curiosity is one of my favourite characteristics to engage. However, considers some of these great alternatives to 'interesting' depending on your intent and context in its use: absorbing, engrossing, fascinating, riveting, gripping, compelling, compulsive, spellbinding, captivating, engaging, enthralling, entrancing, beguiling, appealing, attractive, amusing, entertaining, stimulating, thought-provoking, diverting, exciting, intriguing, action-packed, unputdownable.

Of all of these, I find that I have two others I do use, 'fascinating' and 'thought-provoking'. In fact, it is thought provoking I usually am and continue my intention to be in my conversations. When something is interesting we spend time learning or doing it.

So what is currently holding your interest? And how does that help carry you on your journey to becoming who you want to be?
